I spilled coffee all over Eli on his first day, and even though he just laughed it off, explaining that as a gay man, I'm used to making a splash, I knew instantly this wasn't just any colleague. We quickly bonded over shared spreadsheets and our love for bad reality TV, and before I knew it, late-night work sessions turned into late-night talks about everything under the sun, a journey which made it abundantly clear we were more than just LGBT allies for each other. One spontaneous hand-hold later, I knew that the friendly banter had become something deeper, a connection I'm grateful for every day when I wake up next to him, realizing that the caffeine-induced disaster was the start of something truly special, and maybe even love.
